EMERGENCY SERVICES:
Palacios' 911 program gives the citizens and the surrounding area state-of-the-art communication with emergency services. During the crisis of an emergency when every second counts, precious time is saved by police, fire, and paramedics in our city. Our emergency employees and volunteers pride themselves on a very quick response time from anywhere in the city.
Palacios also offers phone calls during emergencies. During storms, hurricanes, or other emergencies, residents will be called with a message concerning the current situation. If you are not receiving these updates, contact City Hall at 361-972-3605.

Palacios Independent School District is located on Matagorda Bay 110 miles from Houston and/or Corpus Christi and serves a 718 square-mile area of southwest Matagorda and southeast Jackson Counties. A $75.00 deposit is required for new service plus a $25 non refundable connect fee. Billing is done on a monthly cycle.
Commercial deposit is $100 plus a non-refundable $25 connect fee.
A mail drop slot at City Hall is available for after hour payment.
The City of Palacios provides its customers with drinking water from ground water.
Water is drawn at the maximum rate of 1.8 million gallons per day (MGD).

Residential water rates are $13.64/month plus $3.45 per 1000 gals.
Commercial water rates are $13.64/month plus $3.30 per 1000 gals
Industrial water rates are $20.79/month plus $3.53 per 1,000

Library Director: Vikijane Blomberg
The Palacios Library, 326 Main Street, welcomes newcomers. The library's book collection consists of over 30,000 items, and 30 magazine subscriptions. A small collection of popular educational video tapes and audio books are circulated. Computer learning games and other reference CD ROM’s may be used in the library. Circulation and reference services are computerized with access to materials through interlibrary loan. Public Internet access is also available.
The local library is able to readily provide popular titles as new books are added frequently. A wide variety of reading materials for both recreational and educational or developmental reading is selected to provide for the reading interests of the community as a whole.
The library has recently been renovated and our look is more appealing than ever. A pre-school story hour is held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. during the school year, and an after school homework assistance program is provided on school days, using volunteers and high school age honor students, paid through a Friends of the Palacios Library Work/Scholarship program.
