Cultural Heritage

Palacios hosts a wonderful blend of diverse ethnic heritage and cultures.  A tribute to the original inhabitants, the Carancahua Indian, is evident in the display.
The Hispanic culture dates back to 1822 when Jose Felix Trespalacios was the Spanish Governor.
Steven F. Ausin brought settlers into the area in 1823.  As ranching developed and cowhands were in demand, the Black American cowboy found his way into the area.
In the 1970's, the migration of Vietnamese people came to the Palacios area as the climate was more suitable to their homeland.
